If you love to interact with people while working with your hands, we may have a job for you!  Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan is seeking enthusiastic and energetic people looking to grow a career in customer service while feeling like their work adds value to the community, for the position of Processor.  The Processor sorts, prices and prepares donated items for placement in the store.

From its early beginnings of seeking donations to process and offer for sale, to the current operation of four stores in Adrian, Monroe, Lambertville and Saline, doing industrial work for local industries and providing a wide range of training and employment services, Goodwill Industries continues to assist persons with disabilities and other barriers to employment.

Essential Functions:

1. Inspects donated items for overall quality and determines disposition of items based on store manager's direction.

2. Places items in appropriate locations for pricing and/or distribution.

3. Separates seasonal items and places them in appropriate locations.

4. Prepares clothing racks and household items for the store according to the store quality and pricing standards.

5. Uses pricing machine, adhesive price tags and tagging gun to price items in accordance with store standards and Store Manager's direction.

6. Meets or exceeds goals and standards of production and quality.

7. Accomplishes assigned cleaning routine.

8. Assists in the training of workers and consumers in cooperation with the Workforce Development Department staff.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. CARF: Ensure documentation and compliance with CARF standards.

2. Safety: Maintain applicable safety standards, rules, and regulations in areas of responsibility.

3. Outcome Driven: Have S.M.A.R.T objectives to drive performance and improve Goodwill's value to the community.

4. Stakeholder Focused: Work with integrity and provide exemplary customer services to internal and external stakeholders.

5. Accountability: Have key metrics that drive performance taking a leadership role in maximizing the social and financial return of the community resources invested in Goodwill.

6. Financial Stability: Utilize the resources of the organization in an efficient and effective manner.

8. Professionalism: Demonstrate a genuine interest in serving the needs of others and a positive attitude toward the community, co-workers, and individuals we serve. Represent the organization to the public with a courteous, helpful and business-like attitude.

10. Maintains safety standards in area of responsibility and throughout facility.

11. Responsible to maintain accuracy of paperwork.

12. Carries out additional duties assigned by the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or Key Holder.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience in sales is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Able to stand for two hours at a time over a period spanning up to eight hours.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Must be able to bend, stretch, and reach, and lift up to 40 pounds, walking or standing to a significant degree, and be able to move large boxes, furniture, and other heavy items.
